Tino, your descriptions are always detailed, full of love, and pull us through your writing to the very end. And this article is brimming with memories, sounds, smells, laughter, and emotions.... truly the heart of how traditions are made and stay with us forever. Thank you for sharing your memories and the lovely pictures. Happy Easter!
Another transporting story Tino! My daughter studied in Firenze and she woke me in the middle of the night in the US to exclaim about the Scoppio — insisting I watch her video of it immediately. It MADE my Easter! Buona Pasqua
Hi Mary, I was thinking of going to Florence also to see the Scoppio but decided to spend the day in Lucca this Easter. After 10 attempts in different restaurants I finally was able to reserve a lunch spot near the piazza. Hopefully the skies will clear. It’s been raining since a week.
Lucca is a gem, but the last time we stayed there was in the rainy season of the rainiest October in 76 years, so I hear you! Hopefully the sun will make an Easter appearance!
C’est la première fois que je vois ces pains en forme de poule avec un œuf cuit dur dans le milieu. Quelle belle gâterie pour les enfants! Tu nous fais découvrir un autre pan de l’Italie.
Italy celebrates Easter is such amazing ways, other than the Orthodox Greeks I can’t think of any other religion here that show such devotion. There were three days in our family calendar that were celebrated with a bounty of food, Christmas Day, New Years Day (our mother’s birthday) and Easter Sunday, and no one was allowed to not attend. I have made the tradition of either Good Friday or Easter Sunday, whichever suits most of our family. This year it will be Sunday and after two days of preparation I think I will pass over the reins next year. I am getting some assistance. It may be I am having a reaction to a recent flu injection, I am totally spent!

Well Lucca must be a wet city. It rained all day. But the Tordelli were good.
Merci Tino, quel plaisir d’apprendre une autre culture 🙏🇨🇦
Such a wonderful story that captures the color and ceremony of Italian Easter customs. Wishing you and Emi a serene and hopeful Easter.
Thank you Loretta. Same to you and Tony
Grazie Loretta. 🥰
