I so enjoyed this and the vision of a little girl running home while devouring her favorite treat... aren't Christmas memories some of the best? Grandma always made bourbon balls at Christmas. Grandpa was her very serious "taster," who would inevitably suggest a touch more bourbon and need to taste again. I made "Grandpa Crouse's Favorite Bourbon Balls" at Christmas for years and years... perhaps more to salute the memory than for the love of the treat itself. I likely also remembered how, at age 5 or 6, I was limited to only one while everyone else indulged freely. Thanks for sharing your Mostaccioli memory!

Yummm! That looks delicious. Memories from the past are always special. I just wish life was as innocent today as when we were young.

Makes me sentimental thinking of how nostalgic my mother would get when reminiscing about eating these special cookies at Xmastime during her childhood in a Molisano village. She was an only child and was lucky to have as many treats as she desired.
