Your reverent writing properly evokes the holiness of your subject matter. Stunning article! I’ve never read anything so personal and empathic about Michelangelo. I felt awe as I knelt at his tomb in Florence, but capturing his earliest visions and influences is much more important. Thank you for this.

Tino, you mentioned last week that you worried about running out of things to write about. Today’s story is proof that your inquisitiveness and thirst for new things is probably insatiable and you will always find something interesting to share. How can you not in Italy. I know of Michelangelo’s prodigious sculptures and paintings but knew nothing about his poetry. You have planted a tiny seed in my lazy mind to find out more about him.

Hey Mike, I would have never thought of writing about Michelangelo. I mean what can I possibly say that was not said before. But I was as surprised as you finding out about this genius sensitiveness and how he penned it. And basically it revealed a part of him that was quite tormented as many great artists are.

Have a great weekend.

What a great story Tino, and the first time I have seen Michelangelo’s surname used or knew that he wrote such beautiful poetry and what a wonderful hand he had. My memory was triggered by the mention of his connection with Lorenzo Medici whose family was quite prominent in Florence. And what a wonderful house he lived in, such a wonderful setting. Thank you for this weeks post, a terrific read.

Thank you Loretta, let’s just say that it’s a little easier here in Italy to find these places. And I’m like a little kid hunting for Easter eggs.
